Shopping
That's a truly awful joke mate!
I've not been about recently, my computer has crashed completely and it sounds like it is terminal. So no e-mail or anything. Talk about withdrawal symptoms!
AND I've ordered three Christmas pressies over the net and none of them have arrived. Guess where all my confirmation e-mails are? :(
Oh well, I hope they turn up at some point.
We sent our pressies back to NZ on Monday but were told they might not make it by Christmas - apologies if that is the case. Mind you, there is nothing for you lot anyway.
We've had a busy week. I played footy on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We went to The Lord of the Rings movie on Wednesday night (and we both enjoyed it), went to Eddie Izzard last night and he was very funny. As Joseph says, we're off to London for the weekend to do various things and may be brave the crowds for some shopping.
Should be fun.
We have nothing planned for Christmas and I'm working over it. We do have a few footy games to go to and we're going to the Leicester Races on the 27th I think which will be nice and cold.
Hope all is well and might speak to some of you at Christmas time!

Bunny joke...
Just remembered - I heard this one in Dusseldorf strangely enough. By way of exposition a 'toastie' is the English word for a toasted sandwich.
Two rabbits hop into a bar and find a table. They're quite hungry so the first one asks his friend to get him something to eat. His friend goes up to the bar and asks the barman what's good to eat. The barman tells him they have a good range of toasties. So the rabbit says "o.k. give me two cheese toasties please". The barman gives him the toasties and he hops back to his friend. They both nibble away at the toasties until they are finished. The first rabbit says to his friend "Wow that was good! Let's have some more!".
So his friend hops back up to the bar and orders two more cheese toasties. The barman says "Sorry mate. There's been a run on the cheese toasties and we only have one left". The first rabbit says "Oh no! What else do you have?". The barman says "Well we still have some ham toasties left". The first rabbit thinks to himself 'My friend won't know the difference' so he orders one cheese and one ham toastie. He picks them up and hops back to his mate. He gives the first rabbit the ham toastie and keeps the cheese one for himself. They nibble away at the toasties until they are gone.
After a little while the first rabbit starts to rub his stomach and is not looking too flash. His friend says to him "What's wrong? You look terrible!". The first rabbit says "oooowwwwwww... I think I've got mixamatoasties!"
Yay for photos!
Nice one Lisa. Look forward to more!
Friday evening before last we went to a seniors (35+) tennis tournament at the Royal Albert Hall in London. We saw Boris Becker play some other dude (Michael Pernfors, actually) and beat him. Those old guys can still play that's for sure. Although Boris is only one year older than me - how sad.
John McEnroe won the tournament but he played in the morning so we didn't get to see him - bummer. And someone (me actually) only remembered that they had brought their camera after the Becker game had finished - bugger!
This coming weekend we are going to see Chicago the musical with B & L. Lynn sold their Barbar tickets for a nice profit. Looks like Johnny won't be playing in any case - shame.

Back from Dusseldorf
Hi Guys
First of all thanks very much to Bianca for her very well written and entertaining letter.
Good to hear about Christine Paul.
We are just back from Dusseldorf. We went there for the weekend with some work friends.
My friend Pat's girlfriend Leslie used to work in an Irish Pub called Fatty's in Dusseldorf so we spent an evening there:

Leslie, Pat, D, J. and Paul at Fatty's Pub.
The next day we visited Koln on the train.

We paid 6 Euro each (about 10 NZ dollars) to get a return ticket.
We got on the train and thought it was a really nice train with reclining seats and a dining room
car. It seemed to be quite a bargain and sure enough when the ticket collector came along it turned out our ticket was not for these kinds of trains (Intercity Express trains). It was only for the slow local trains. He didn't make us pay the extra we should have paid but did warn us to take a slow train back.
It took us 20 mins with no stops on the way to get to Koln and it took 50 mins to get back with about 15 stops. Koln was very nice - it had a huge cathedral near the train station and markets all around. It was very cold (about 4 degrees I reckon).
We were pretty exhausted when we got back to London on Sunday night so Monday was a bit of a write off at work. I don't like Monday's at the best of times.
D. has handed in her notice at her job as she is sick of managing morons (luckily I don't have to manage any, just work with them). Naturally they really don't want her to leave as she is one of the few competent and conscientious ones there. So they are offering her another role - but if this doesn't pan out then she will leave at the start of next year.
We will be seeing Bernie and Lynn in a couple of weekends for the NZ Barbarians vs the Poms. Bernie is considering selling the tickets for a nice profit on Ebay - then we can do something else in London.
We're sorry to have missed the LOTR premiere - that looked amazing. We're looking forward to the movie of course. Also Kill Bill Vol. 2 - Vol 1. was great I thought and an awesome soundtrack too.
Hope everyone is well back in N.Z.
Love J & D
